PurposeTens of thousands of studies have been done to examine the effects of nutritional supplements on cardiovascular disease, cancer and other medical conditions, but there is a relative absence of information about neuronutrition, the effects of nutritional supplement interventions on physical and psychological problems. The information obtained by the Pilot Research Project will be used to support the feasibility of larger more controlled studies about neuronutrition. The staff at Pilot Research Project hope that this information about will hasten us to the day when non pharmaceutical, natural, science-based, safe and inexpensive treatments with nutritional supplements become the treatments of first resort for physical and psychological problems, instead of being treatments of last resort as is currently the case. Brain/Body-Starved Scientific studies suggest that imbalances in brain/body chemistry can be modified with nutritional supplements, and as a result symptoms related to General Wellness, Addiction/Recovery, Inattentiveness/Over activity, Low Moods/Anxiousness, Stress, Pain, Anger/Irritability, Diabetes and Weight Balance problems can be greatly modified. Even the American Medical Association has reversed itself and, now recognizes that most , if not all people do not consume optimal amounts of some nutrients and that all people should take nutritional supplements. If you are a recovering person, or you, or someone you care for is suffering from physical and/or psychological symptoms, you/they are even more likely the average person to be nutritionally deficient. Extra nutritional assistance is needed because your "feel good" brain chemistry (called neurotransmitters that prevent symptoms) is itself composed of the same nutrients that many most people are deficient in! Brain/Body-poisoned You may be one of the millions of suffering people who are not aware that you are "brain/body-starved" for neuronutrients and "brain/body-poisoned" with neurotoxins. (toxins that effect the nervous system) Many people have been misinformed that physical and psychological symptoms just somehow "just happen" and that there are no known causes for their anguish, and the best that one could hope for is to numb the symptoms with alcohol and tobacco, illicit drugs, prescription drugs and over-the-counter drugs and /or herbal chemicals like Ma Huang and Ginseng. Genetic Vulnerabilities All psychotropic chemicals can drastically strip your brain of its natural neurotransmitters and deplete your body in basic nutrition. Recent research suggest that genetic vulnerabilities (called polymorphisms), which initially set the stage for addictions, Inattentiveness/Over activity, Low Moods/Anxiousness, Stress, Pain, Anger/Irritability, Diabetes and Overweight/obesity to happen in the first place, follows certain people all through their lives, making them even more in need of nutritional supplementation than normally deficient person. Participate In light of this newly confirmed information, it is in everyone's best interest to support efforts to obtain scientific proof as to the effectiveness of certain nutritional supplements (neuronutrients) that target the central nervous system and correct imbalances in brain and body chemistry. The purpose of the Pilot Research Project is to gather that proof. GETTING STARTED Participating and getting started is easy. Download and fill out all forms. Be sure your name is on each sheet. The issue of patients rights is very important and if you have any questions about confidentiality or risks or any other issue, please feel free to discuss these with your healthcare practitioner. After discussing and signing the consent form, it will be faxed to: FAX: 204-866-4623. Any questions contact: prp@addictionsfreehealth.com A physician-trained project coordinator will be assigned to contact you when you begin your program. They will review your responses to the Pilot Research Project Outcomes Sheet and they will contact you every month to follow your progress. After six months, a summary will be provided to you and to your healthcare practitioner and you can decide to continue in the study or stop at that point. Of course, you may also drop out of the study any time you want. With your healthcare professional’s approval, you may also set up consultations as well with Pilot Research Project staff if you feel you need extra assistance. |
